Have you ever thought about what goes into a financial plan and why having one is so important? Today we're talking about the different aspects of a financial plan and what a day in the life of a financial planner looks like.

-In this video, I interviewed Adam Buss (Certified Financial Planner) to discuss some aspects of his role in planning and the overall importance of Financial Planning.

1) Who Needs to Have a Financial Plan?
-Everyone! Having a plan in place gives you peace of mind going into retirement that you will be able to have the lifestyle that you want. People are at all different stages of life so their plan specifics will be unique to their own situations.

2) What Goes Into the Actual Process?
-generally there are a few parts:

*sitting down for multiple meetings with the clients to understand their goals, assets and situations on an individual basis.
*building the plan alongside the client's accountant, lawyer, family members, etc
^conduct annual reviews to go over changes to the situation (deaths, income, etc)

3) Other Questions You Come Across as a Financial Planner?
-should i take from my RRSP/CPP
-how much will my plan leave for my family
-should i pay myself with dividends or salary?

The most important thing is to make sure the client's goals are being met. Yearly reviews and multiple discussions with the client are they keys to success as a financial planner
